One Life to Live

Question
What if a game only gave the Player one life? What if when the Player dies the game is over and couldn’t be played again? How would that influence the way Players played the game?

Gameplay
A Player creates a character and then begins the game.
The game takes place in a sandbox-type environment much like Grand Theft Auto 5.
The Player isn’t given any missions or anything, but is free to go and do whatever he wants. For example, he could get a job, go to school, or become a criminal.
Much like in The Sims, it is up to the Player to determine what he wants to do and how he would like to spend his time.
However, if the Player sustains enough damage in the game — for example being shot, falling from a high distance, or being in crashes — the Player’s character will die.
If the player’s character survives whatever he went through, he will need to take the necessary time to recover whether it be with a hospital stay or just taking it easy for a few days.
Once the Player character dies that is the end of that character’s life. If the Player wishes to continue to play the game he will need to create a new character.
The new player character will then begin life in the existing game environment. If the Player is quick enough he could have a chance to see where his previous character died (example: if the previous character died in a car crash, the current player could go and watch the wreck being cleaned up).
